Personal data we collect

This website does not have user accounts or online payments, and its pages do not submit forms to our servers. We receive personal data mainly when you choose to contact us.

  • Contact details you send by email, phone, WhatsApp or in person, such as your name, email address, phone number and organisation.
  • Information about your legal matter, including documents, chronology and details of other parties that you share with us.
  • Job applications, CVs and related information you email to us for a role.
  • Technical data our hosting provider records automatically, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of request, kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
  • Website usage data collected by Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies. See the Cookie Policy.

How and why we use it

We rely on your consent, on legitimate uses permitted by law (for example, where you voluntarily provide data for a specific purpose), and on compliance with legal obligations. We do not sell personal data or use it for automated decision-making.

  • To respond to your enquiry, run conflict checks and assess whether and how we can help.
  • To provide legal and professional services under an agreed engagement, including filings, correspondence and representation.
  • To issue invoices, maintain accounts and meet our legal, tax, regulatory and professional obligations.
  • To assess job applications.
  • To keep the website secure and, with your consent, understand how visitors use it so we can improve it.

Client confidentiality

Information shared with us for legal advice is also protected by professional confidentiality and, where applicable, privilege. Sending an email or message does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship, so please avoid sending sensitive details until we confirm we can act for you.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where needed for the purposes above, and with providers bound by confidentiality or contractual obligations.

  • Courts, tribunals, registries (such as the Trade Marks Registry and Copyright Office) and government authorities, when required to carry out your instructions or by law.
  • Counsel, experts, associate firms and foreign agents engaged on your matter with your approval.
  • Service providers such as our website host, email provider and, where you consent, Google Analytics.
  • Professional advisers, auditors and authorities where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

Third-party services and links

If you contact us on WhatsApp, open directions in Google Maps or follow a link to social media or a government website, that service processes your data under its own privacy policy. Our blog at /blog/ is a separate WordPress installation and may use its own cookies and plugins.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence that does not lead to an engagement is kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable record-keeping period. Client files are kept for the period required by professional, tax and limitation rules. Job applications are kept for up to 12 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Server logs are kept for the period set by our hosting provider.

Security

We use reasonable security safeguards, including HTTPS for this website and access controls for client records. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected persons and authorities as required by law.
