Recently we came across the biggest scandal of vulgarility of teeanagers on social media by the page “Bois Locker Room”
So on this recently a letter has been addressed to the chief justice of the Delhi High court to take suo moto cognizance of “Bois Locker Room incident”.
Basically “the bois locker room” was a chat room on social media platform, instagram. That group generally involves young boys specifically from class XI and XII from Delhi schools, who shared lewd and objectionable content pertaining to minor girls. The chat room was used to make comments and share compromising and morphed image of minor girls.
The chat room came into picture last week when one of its contents was shared online on social media.
In their letter to Chief justice D.N. Patel, Advocates Neela Gokhale and Ilam Paridhi have stated the seriousness and gravity of the illegal activity being committed by the young boys. They gives death and raoe threat and take morphed photos of the minor girls illegally, and demanded for registration of FIR and initiation of investigation proceedings against the boys at the earliest, for commission of offences punishable under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, , Information and Technology Act, 2008and Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Actually Gokhale and Paridhi were waiting for a formal complaint from the parents’ side to register a case. As they relied on the news published on May 4.
Due to the inaction on part of the investigative authorities, no real punitive action has been taken against the perpetrators and the new instagram page “Bois Locker Room 2.0” with the bio that “Let’s start this again, join this group with fake accounts so that no one can expose you, message me the username of your fake account, has come into existence, it is informed.
Thus urging the court to take suo moto cognizance of the issue.
They stated that if this action is not taken seriously then this could lead to degradation and explicit violence. Otherwise this incident will give rise to rape incidents, molestation and in some incidents murder also. Therefore, these unprecented ways of violence against women online need to be nipped immediately as something as simple as chat have all the propensity to translate into sexual violence of great magnitude in no time at all.
